Consumer electronics company Archos has announced a themed 7-inch Android tablet for children. Called the Child Pad, the seven-incher has a compact light-weight design and comes toting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1GHz processor and 1GB RAM.
Children using the tablet will be able to access the AppsLib-powered Kids App Store, which has been tailored for the device to include "14-friendly categories and 10,000 apps including games, entertainment, communication, multimedia, books, comics, sports and more".
The user interface is simple and kid-friendly. Home screen folders allow direct access to games. In fact, the tab comes pre-loaded with top kids' apps, including Pig Rush, Angry Birds and Flight Frenzy. Colored icons, learning and entertainment features and puzzles have all been added to make the tablet a fun experience.
The Child Pad complies with CIPA and COPPA regulations, so parents can rest assured of a safe tablet environment. The parental control software for the tablet has been provided by Editions Profil to ensure safe web browsing.
Priced at $129, the Child Pad will hit the tablet market at the end of this month.
