MediaTek's Launches MT6515 Platform for Mid to Entry-Level Smartphone Market

MediaTek, a fabless semiconductor company, has launched the MT6515, the company's TD smartphone solution for the under-$160 smartphone market in China. Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the platform integrates a 1GHz ARM CortexTM-A9 processor and 3D hardware.

Sub-$160 smartphones are among the fastest growing segments in China. MediaTek looks to provide 'cost effective, yet high performance smartphone platforms' to cater to the demand for mid and entry-level smartphones.

Mediatek is also a member of China's TD Industry Alliance (TDiA) and has made significant investments in the R&D of TD chipsets following the release of the TD-SCDMA standard.
