Root and flash custom recovery on your Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc LT15i

Requirements to root your device and to install custom recovery on your Xperia Arc S,
• You should have Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc LT15i
• You should have a Windows PC
• Install ABD for your Ericsson Xperia Arc S, model number LT15i on your computer
• Follow the path Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging to enable USB Debugging on your phone
• Follow the path Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources to enable Unknown Sources
• Your phone should have minimum 80% charge. Better, if the phone is fully charged to power the entire flashing procedure.
• Data Backup: This is extremely important as during rooting, unlocking bootloader and installing custom recovery, your data may be lost or corrupted. Take a back up of important data from your Xperia Arc S’s memory to the SD card.

Rooting your Xperia Arc S:
• Download DooMLoRD_v1_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip and save the file in C Drive on your computer
• Using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or some other file extraction software extract the contents of the zip file
• Connect your Xperia Arc S to your computer using the USB Cable
• Launch the runme.bat file and follow the instructions given on the screen
• At this stage, your phone will reboot a few times. When the script completes rooting your Xperia, you will see the message “ALL DONE”
• Download the SuperUser app for free from the Google Play Store to check if you have root access

Instructions for installing ClockworkMod Recovery on your Xperia Arc S:

We have given three methods here to Install ClockworkMod Recovery

Install ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
• Download the ClockworkMod Recovery package and save it to your PC.
• Using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or some other file extraction software extract the contents of the zip file
• Connect your Xperia Arc S to your computer using the USB Cable
• From the extracted files on your computer, run install-cwm1.cmd
• Install ClockworkMod Recovery 5 on your Xperia Arc by following the onscreen instructions
• Remove your phone from the computer

Install ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7
• This method will work only if your phone as the stock Android 2.3 firmware.
• Visit Google Play Store and download Root Explorer. Install this on your Xperia
• Using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or some other file extraction software extract the contents of the zip file. You will see a folder titled System and two subfolders xbin and bin.
• Connect your Xperia Arc S to your computer using the USB Cable
• Copy the extracted folders and files to your phone’s internal SD card
• Remove your phone from the computer
• Launch the Root Explorer app on your Xperia
• Copy all the contents of the system folder (from SD card) into the /system directory using Root Explorer
• Now, it is time to set the permissions of all the copied files using Root Explorer:
Owner — Read, Write, Execute
Group — Read, Execute
Others — Read Execute
